Bras!

If you're a guy, you should probably stop here. There is absolutely zero information below that will be of service to you! So basically what that means is, Dad and Andy, you do not have to read this post. :)

I recently had a girlfriend ask me, do you have a favorite bra and do you have a favorite bralette? I instantly answered "yes" and whipped my phone out to text her the links to what I think are the best pieces to own for the girls. And when she and I were chatting, it became very clear that if she had that question, then many other women probably did too. So I've created a post about my favorite bras from strapless bras to sports bras. I realize we are in week 3 of the blog, but we're diving right in - this is important information ladies.

My every day, go-to, super comfortable bra: I'm a huge fan of the Natori Dream Bra. I cannot say enough about how comfortable it is. It is not itchy, which is my #1 requirement when buying a bra. The lacy straps add a feminine touch, and it can be worn with anything. Meaning, this bra looks great under sweaters and your tightest t-shirts and everything in between. The padding is perfectly thick so there is no indecent exposure, but not so padded that your boobs look like they're stuffed with socks. I should also mention I wore this bra when I was nursing my kids (in a bigger size) and now (when I'm not nursing my kids - just to be clear) - it's so versatile and Nordstrom will sew on nursing clips if you buy this bra with the intention of wearing it while you nurse. How cool is that? Is there anything they don't do? My last plug about this bra is that I think it's a fair price. I've tried on bras that, no joke, cost $190 and bras that cost $25- this one lands in the middle but has the best quality and exceeds all my requirements/expectations.

The softest, coziest bralette: I love a good bralette, but finding the right one can be a little tricky. I feel lucky that I stumbled across the Commando Butter Bralette , and the only reason I did, is because I'm obsessed with Commadno undies (another topic for another post). This bralette is seriously buttery soft (hence the name) and lays so nicely under tank tops, t-shirts, etc. It's soft enough to wear to bed. That's how soft it is. It is also seamless so you don't see a lot of lines when you're wearing it under tighter items of clothing. It's worth the splurge and it's ageless. I own it and so does my mom!

Sports Bra: I am a regular when it comes to a workout routine, so having a nice sports bra is important to me. I think I feel comfortable going on the record saying I've tried almost every brand of sports bras (Target, Nike, UA, Champion, Lululemon, etc) and have landed on one that I now own in multiple colors. I am in love with the Athleta Hyper Focused Bra in the Powervita material. I love the material of this bra, I love how it fits, I love the level of support it offers, I love that it has removable padding, and I love that it comes in all sizes up to a DD. Athleta also focuses on making their bras comfortable and appropriate for women that have had to undergo a mastectomy, which I also love. A clear example of women loving women. If you are any kind of work out girl, go buy this bra.

Strapless bra: Ugh. The ever dreaded strapless bra. You know, until I found an A+ strapless bra, I would intentionally not buy shirts that required any sort of specialty bra. I could not handle the inconvenience of it, because inevitably the strapless bra would slide down your chest and then pretty soon you were wearing a strapless belt that was supposed to accommodate your outfit but in reality was creating more trouble. Then you are stuck running to the restroom or awkwardly reaching down your shirt to readjust. Who is with me, here? Luckily I came across the Wacoal Red Carpet Convertible Strapless Bra. That is when my life changed, and my wardrobe was able to expand. This strapless bra stays put (it does NOT move or slide), the coverage is perfect, it's relatively comfortable, and it does not make your upper boob/armpit skin spill over the top. Perhaps, I'm the only one worried about that final detail, but if not, you can take that as the gospel truth. There is a reason "red carpet" is in the title- it's legit!

Listen ladies, we wear bras every single day and for all kinds of different occasions, they should be comfortable and offer the needs we are wanting for different types of clothing. I only buy two things at full price regularly and those two things are bras and comfortable shoes. We desperately need both so why sell yourself short? There is nothing worse than an ill fitting bra or when your dogs are barking in the middle of the day. I'm just saying, pay for quality and comfort.

P.S. If you go to the lingerie section at Nordstrom, they will measure you for free and ensure you are buying the right bra size for you. I imagine they do this at Von Maur too- for my Iowa readers that are forced to live life without Nordstrom (the horror!). This is ideal because then if/when they do go on sale or you are in desperate need, you can hop online and order up your size!
